Glühwein (German Mulled Wine)

Ingredients

8 cardamom pods
10 cloves
10 pepper corn
4 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon coriander seed
1 teaspoon aniseed
1 lt dry red wine
1 orange
sugar

Directions

Squash the cardamom pods with the side of a big knife. Put the cardamom, cloves, pepper, star anise, cinnamon, coriander and aniseed in a tea bag or holder. Bring the red wine with 500ml water and the tea bag to a boil. Cut the orange in 1cm thick slices, add them to the wine and let is simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove the tea bag (give it one last squeeze), and add sugar to taste. Cheers!
